Source Africa — Sustainable sourcing from East African agribusinesses

Source Africa promotes direct trade between African agribusinesses and global bulk buyers by providing a direct access to sustainable agribusinesses and a data interface between the agribusiness’ supply chain and the buyer. Direct sourcing enables higher and more consistent quality as well as transparency and traceability that are increasingly demanded by consumers, not to mention regulators.




Source Africa is the joint project of Anteja Africa and ProFound, two companies actively developing agribusiness value chains across Eastern Africa. Anteja Africa, based in Nairobi, offers agribusiness value chain development and digital transparency solutions. ProFound assists entrepreneurs in emerging markets of natural ingredients sector in capturing economic opportunities from production stage to market entry.


Certifications & Transparency

Suppliers in the Source Africa network are sustainable and certified producers, ready for export. Their portfolio includes certificates, such as GLOBAL G.A.P., HACCP, FairTrade and ECOCERT Organic.


Beyond certification, every agribusiness in the Source Africa network provides digital transparency and traceability of its supply chain with phy2app, a digital transparency tool developed by Anteja. phy2app supports agribusinesses in collecting, organising, and sharing information relevant to their sourcing decisions, from geographical origins and production processes to social responsibility and environmental sustainability. Sourcing events Source Africa organises online events that bring together European buyers of natural ingredients and East African agribusinesses. The kick-off event on February 24th, 2022, titled “Suppliers meeting buyers”, which is dedicated to the discussion about challenges and opportunities of sourcing from East Africa. Consecutive series of events will be dedicated to networking between suppliers and buyers.
